Recently there have been four new additions to the Dog Corps family, Stefan, Ian, Dom, and Patrick. On the 15th of July the K9 search team that Dog Corps sometimes works with, Eagle Valley Search Dogs, held a team training which one of our newest Dog Corps members, Patrick, was able to attend. Along with Patrick the three interns, Dan, Luke and I, and Jimmy attended the training. Everyone had a blast working with the dogs and being able to have the opportunity to see some dogs that they usually don’t get a chance to see work and the way in which their handlers respond to them.
For training four two-acre-areas were set up to be used for training and recently Jenn, Jimmy, Dan and I went to go and take down the flags marking the areas that we set up and on our trip Dan stumbled upon a massive spider at least 4” by 4” and after he discovered the first one Dan and I stumbled upon at least 30 of these huge spiders. I don’t know about Dan but as soon as I saw all those spiders I made a 180 degree turn and went in the opposite direction.
Personally I learned a lot and had a great experience from training and based off of the way people acted during training they seemed to be very thoroughly interested and satisfied as well.
