Dog is man’s best friend

Dog is man’s best friend

By Adam B.

There is a saying “a dog is a man’s best friend.” Some people take this as some stupid saying and never really experience the full meaning of it. These people are missing out. A dog is something that never argues back, never disrespects you or throws something back in your face or spites you. A dog is something that as long as you feed it, walk it and play with it, it will give you everything it has to offer in return. Some people don’t cry when a loved one dies, but everyone cries when their dog dies. With people we can recall good and bad experiences with everyone. With dogs it is only good and the ones that are bad can be laughed off like that one time when Max at the sofa. A dog can sense when your down and come to you and look at you in that way that says “no matter what I still love you.” Dogs bring humans a sense of completion, companionship and love that no other human could ever supply for another. There is a connection so strong between a dog and it’s companion that it is the only link that I believe to be truly, unconditional. Now some people may say that their love for their husband is unconditional, well what if he were to cheat on you and lie about it to your face? Or maybe your son or daughter, what if they told lies about the way you abused them so you could go to jail or how they tried to split you and your wife/husband apart? I know a woman that loves dogs with her whole heart and she has about 6 dogs. One day a tragic thing happened. One of her larger dogs killed one of the smaller ones and at first she was terrified and furious. Even still she was able to forgive her dog because of the unconditional connection. You might say that this contradicts my previous point of only good memories however, the reason for the freak accident was completely based off of primal instincts, it would be like holding it against someone who was starving so they ate. There is another saying that quotes “I wish that I could be the person that my dog thinks that I am.” The way that a dog treats its owner suggests how high of affection they have for him/her. In reality no human being is as good as their dog perceives them to be, simply because every single human being has character defects that they cannot ever fully control. In every dog owner’s heart there is a spot for their companion; their dog. No matter what they do, no matter what they chew, no matter how they react, the love is reciprocal.
