Today Adam, Jimmy, Lucas, and I started out the day with an intense adventure through the woods. The idea started when we saw Jen’s instructions for us for the morning. It said something along the lines of: “go on long walk now 2 hours please bye.” We took about five minutes to figure out what she meant by it, and came to the conclusion that we should pack our bags and head out.
We had a short discussion over our destination, and I very slyly convinced the group that I knew the best place to go. Unfortunately, as we soon came to realize, I had no idea how to get there. Quickly Adam caught on and called me on it. I responded with much confidence and bravado, and five minutes later admitted that I was completely lost.
Having some laughs and some falls along the way we wandered around the land surrounding the school looking for a place to swim. Eventually we came across a beaver’s dam and a fairly deep swimming spot. It was beautiful and we stopped for a few minutes to let the dogs swim! On our way back Tank and Raven took off after a deer, it’s not unlike them, yet it’s still frustrating. We took off running after them and quickly caught up. A sheepish looking Raven sullenly walked the rest of the way home on a short lead.
Today was quite an adventure, and I hope to have many more with my brothers in Dog Corps. Although it would be nice if there were no deer next time!
